When it comes to HubSpot’s quoting tools, most users stick with the defaults: Basic, Modern, or Original. And that’s fine, until your sales process outgrows them. At The Gist, we’ve been evolving our use of HubSpot quotes for years, and we recently began redesigning our own quote template. This post outlines what that process entails and why it matters.
HubSpot’s standard templates make it easy to get started, but they’re limited. You can add your logo and color, but not much else. That works for quick quotes, but not for a branded, high-touch proposal experience.
That’s where custom quote templates come in.
HubSpot now lets you create and edit templates that match your brand, adding text, video, images, testimonials, and more. You can build one master template and then clone it for each service type, such as audits, implementations, website projects, content retainers, and so on.
Once the foundation is built, you can reuse it endlessly without a developer.
Our first custom quote template featured a hero banner, a personalized headline (“A Committed Growth Partnership for [Client Name]”), an embedded video, a process overview, payment details, testimonials, and team information, all before displaying pricing.
It worked well. But like anything in HubSpot, there’s always room to improve.
Now we’re redesigning again, making the hero section editable, introducing a sticky sidebar, adding a logo slider, and incorporating new CTA banners and FAQs. We’re also enabling e-signatures and payments directly within the quote so that prospects can accept and pay in a single step.
When quotes live inside HubSpot, they unlock powerful automation.
These are the kinds of efficiencies that make HubSpot shine.
Build one beautiful, flexible template and clone it multiple times. Once your base layout is perfect, each service variation can be updated in minutes; no code or developer is needed.
Like we always say, “Using HubSpot is like sweeping a dirt floor - you can always go further.” The quote tool is no exception. A little extra work up front leads to a faster, more professional, and more scalable proposal process down the road.
At The Gist Inbound, we help businesses set up HubSpot the right way, from automation like this to complete CRM builds and inbound marketing strategies. If you want to scale your growth without adding more to your plate, let’s talk.
